Dolpo trek

Dolpo lies on the north-western corner of Nepal. Dolpo is surely one the very few places where the ancient Tibetan customs and traditions still exist undisturbed. The inhabitants there practice Bon, a religion of Tibet that preceded Buddhism. This trek is relatively long and strenuous and semicircles the Shey Pholsundo National Park – habitat of the snow leopard. The journey through the high passes offers one of the world`s most colorful wild scenarios, Friendly semi-nomadic tribes with herbs with yak move among the valleys below rising massifs, The rugged terrain often makes strenuous trekking but further up through the passes the unique view of the north face Dhaulagiri is one of the most remarkable experiences.
Extreme landscape of Upper Dolpo, Famous for Himalayan herbs, lies in western Nepal. Where Nepal`s second largest lake She-phoksundo lake is there. The route begins by meandering through pine and cedar forest with views of the masseve Dhaulagiri range in the background. The entrance to Dolpo lies beyond the Jungla Bhanjyang pass, (4500meter). At the head of the valley lay snow-capped peaks and the desolate Tibetan plateau beyond. Protected from rain, the region is dry where the Dolpo inhabitants have carved out a niche of survival in the harsh surroundings by trading with nearby Tibet. A vision of beauty, the Phokshindo (Ringmo) and the legendary monastery of the pre-Buddhist Bonpo sect is out momentous destination. Corpse feeding to vulture & Polyandry system can be observe in this region. As the most remote and least developed district in Nepal, this adventurous trek offers to experience the had life of Nepalese, and the savage culture.
To reach Dolpo, we fly from Kathmandu and stay overnight at Nepalgunj from where we again fly to Juphal. From here we trek all the way to the Do Tarap Valley.
